This is a commemorative poster honoring a World War I soldier. If you have any information on "L. Schatz", the young man depicted, please click on the "Send Us Feedback" button at the top left.
In the top center of the lithograph is a large American eagle, perched upon an oval cartouche adorned on either side by two draped U.S. flags. In the oval cartouche is a black and white photograph of an American soldier from the waist up wearing a plain U.S. Army blouse. In a rectangle below the photograph is the soldier's name: "L. Schatz". Below the oval is painting of a US battleship, bow-on view, flanked by indistinct images of two other ships on the horizon. In the air on either side of the battleship are two faint images of early biplane aircraft. At the left of the poster is a full-length figure of a uniformed U.S. Army infantryman in a World War I-era uniform with campaign hat and puttees; and on the right is a U.S. Navy bluejacket, also in a sailor's World War I uniform with white puttees. Both figures hold rifles with fixed bayonets. At center below the battleship is a narrow rectangular panel embellished with red, white and blue ribbon in which is printed "One of Our Boys of 1917".
