"I'm a very clever man-
Very, very smart indeed;
Anyone, deny it if he can,
Then I'll have his bleed.
For example t'other day-
No 'twas the other night,
My pal Spiffy couldn't make out
Why his collar seemed so tight

I knew, I knew,
I "tumbled" in a sec,
I knew, I knew,
He hadn't washed his neck!

My landlord's a funny chap
Always up to diff'rent tricks;
His latest hobby now is, he
Has started keeping little chicks.
T'other day he came to me
And said "Here, Mr. Meggs
I really can't make out now why
My chickens won't lay eggs"

I knew, I knew,
My answer gave him shocks;
I knew, I knew,
They all were blooming cocks!

To a concert once I went
Very, very grand affair,
The Prince of Wales and other big pots
(Such as myself) were there:
One young lady, with a voice
That killed all the cats with fright,
Came on the stage and sang, "Oh where's
My wandering boy to-night?"

I knew, I knew,
My answer gave her shocks;
I knew, I knew,
He'd gone to pawn his socks!

We have got a Thomas cat,
He is very H. O. T.,
Winks his eye at every little puss
Shocks their modesty.
Our top lodger, who is soft
And isn't up to spoof,
Asked why that old Tom cat prowled out
Every evening on the roof.

I knew, I knew,
I laughed and said "Oh! well,"
I knew, I knew
But I ain't a-going to tell.

Fat old Aunty Phoebe was
Out riding on her bike,
She was going such a rattling pace
Made the boys chi-ike.
A big steam-roller stopped her game,
Sent her over - wollop! whack!
"Where are you hurt?" said the passers-by,
As fat Aunty rubbed her back-

I knew, I knew,
No need to enquire;
I knew, I knew,
She'd bust her blooming tyre!"
